One of our recent collaborations was with a small but financially strong gaming company based in Stockholm. The company’s main product is a turn-based strategy game, and the game has millions of players across the world. So far, the game has more than 18 million downloads and is being played in 138 countries. The game is available on many platforms including iOS, Android, Windows, Mac OSx, Linux, Nintendo Switch™, and in all Tesla cars.
The company needed to hire a new Lead Game Programmer. They published a detailed job description on their website and other platforms. After having interviews with some applicants, the team realised that they need someone with many years of experience and someone who is confident in their technical skills. In addition, they wanted to hire a Swedish speaker since the rest of the team communicates in Swedish on a daily basis.
To find the company’s next Lead Game Programmer, Agile Search kicked off an executive search process. First, we had a start-up meeting with the hiring manager to understand the company’s dynamics and culture, and the responsibilities of the new hire. Next, we formed a team of 4 recruiters. Each of us focused on different platforms to find the right candidates. Some of the platforms included GitHub, Stack Overflow, Twitter, Linkedin, and Slack. We approached the candidates with highly personalised reach-out messages and had the first round of interviews to understand their motivations and goals. Lastly, we shared the candidates with the hiring manager.
